By using a CC (creative commons) license creators/owners can distribute their work with less restrictions then are normally associated with full copyright, so instead of ‘full rights reserved’ CC allows for ‘Some rights reserved. They may allow people, for example, to copy and distribute works as long as they are attributed to their creator or copyright owner.

There are different grades of CC licensing allowing owners to choose how their works are distributed and which rights are reserved.
