It was also observed by\u00a0<a title=\"France\" href=\"https:\/\/www.earth-site.co.uk\/Education\/france\">French<\/a>\u00a0astronomer Pierre Jules Cesar Janssen while in India a few months earlier on the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of August 1968 but it wasn\u2019t until 1870 that Lockyer boldly suggested it was the fingerprint of an unknown element. As he found this from the\u00a0<a title=\"Sun\" href=\"https:\/\/www.earth-site.co.uk\/Education\/sun\">sun's<\/a> rays Lockyer named the predicted element Helium after the Greek sun god Helios. 25 years later in 1895, William Ramsay confirmed Lockyer\u2019s prediction when he successfully isolated Helium from a mineral called cleveite.<\/p><\/span><\/dd><dd><span class=\"tdih_event_year\">2011<\/span>  <span class=\"tdih_event_name\"><p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>In 2011 Colonel Gaddafi was assassinated.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the 1<sup>st<\/sup> of September 1969, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi \u2018s \u2018Free Unionist Officers\u2019 overthrew King Idris, while the king was receiving medical treatment in\u00a0<a title=\"Turkey\" href=\"https:\/\/www.earth-site.co.uk\/Education\/turkey\">Turkey<\/a>, in a bloodless coup on the 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0of September 1969. Gaddafi became Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and chairman of the \u201cFree Unionist Council\u201d. Publically he left civilian ministers in charge however these ministers had to consult with Gaddafi\u2019s Free Unionist Council and therefore Gaddafi had ultimate control of the country. A few months later on the 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of January 1970 Gaddafi ended the charade and took direct control of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earth-site.co.uk\/Education\/lybia\">Libya<\/a> as \u201cChairman of the Revolutionary Command Council\u201d, \u201cPrime Minister of Libya\u201d and \u201cBrotherly Leader and Guide of the Revolution of Libya\u201d. Gaddafi remained the leader of Libya, but changed his title on several occasions, until an uprising of the Libyan people led to his assassination on the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of October 2011.<\/p><\/span><\/dd><\/dl>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243;
